Part-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Companion for Alzheimer’s Patient

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide personalized care and companionship to an elderly gentleman with Alzheimer’s in Summit, NJ. This part-time weekend (Saturday and Sunday 8-10hr) role with a competitive pay up to $40 per hour. The ideal candidate will be able to assist with daily living activities, provide meaningful companionship, and support the patient during social outings such as lunches, dinners, and golfing trips. Reliable transportation to get to and from work and the ability to drive the patient in the family car to these activities are required.
**Key Responsibilities**:
– Provide one-on-one care and companionship to the patient, supporting both physical and emotional well-being.
– Assist with daily activities such as personal hygiene, medicine, mobility, and toileting, ensuring the patient’s comfort and safety.
– Monitor vital signs, such as blood pressure, and report any changes in the patient’s condition to family members or medical professionals as necessary.
– Drive the patient to social activities, including lunches, dinners, and golfing, ensuring safety and companionship throughout.
– Facilitate communication between the patient, family members, and other members of the household or medical team.
– Serve meals, assist with feeding when necessary, and ensure a clean, hygienic living environment.
– Provide companionship through engaging in conversation and activities, offering a compassionate and patient demeanor.
– Assist with light household tasks, ensuring the living space is clean and well-maintained.
**Qualifications**:
– Current New Jersey Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
– Previous experience working with Alzheimer’s or dementia patients is highly preferred.
– Strong communication skills, both with the patient and family members.
– Ability to provide a high level of care with patience and understanding.
– Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license; ability to drive the patient to activities is required.
– Compassionate, proactive, and able to work independently.
